Great account about kare raisu. I occasionally make vegetarian ones, or visit Japanese curry places ( Natto curry was amazing in Hokkaido), but generally prefer richness of SE Asian curries (:
I’ve been thinking of making this and already have a few Japanese curry cubes, so this arrives at the perfect moment. I appreciate knowing the history too!
I LOVE Curry!! I didn't even think of the fact that there may be different kinds. Anything spicy and I'm usually in love! I have MAJOR allergies though...it's REALLY ANNOYING! That was the main reason for my becoming Vegan but I like helping the world, etc. too. I could EASILY turn this baby into a Vegan Recipe. I like being Vegan but man! I don't like how some Non-Vegans don't like me simply because of what I eat! Than some Vegans don't like it if I stand up for some Non-Vegans, etc. It makes me want to scream GET A LIFE! LOLOL Anyway, I love turning most recipes Vegan. It's fun. I usually add things to it too!!
One of the thing I love about this recipe is that it really takes nothing to make it vegan. Just remove the meat from the recipe, change the vegetables, add new ones, add fruit... You can really make it your own!
Don't let them carry you down: it's great you can stand up for two opposite "factions", I think seeing both sides of the coin makes great individuals with great thoughts.
Back to the curry: how do you like yours? I often add peas or green beans to it, too!
I honestly try whatever type of curry mix I can find.
ALOT of them haven't shown up on my computer for some reason though, so it's been a struggle!
I HAVE tried Sauce Madras Curry it was alright but not hot enough for me. At the moment, I am trying Bushes Best Curried Chickpeas but I don't like those that much either. They also aren't hot enough for me... plus they are a tad to liquidy.
I honestly, HONESTLY didn't even know that they made blocks so that you can create your own because they would NOT show up on my computer. I can't wait to try that and hope that they stick around on my computer to let me order them!!! I'm super excited though!!! I bet that you can make so many things with that because I'm guessing their like the blocks that I make broth with?
As far as standing up for two sides, it REALLY makes some mad. At least here it seems to. I'm assuming that's because most choose one side to follow. I get it too! It would be easier. It just wouldn't be me. I'm glad to find any it does not make mad.

I can see here another curry lover! :)
